to the FC Arlington website. FC is based in Arlington, Virginia, and
plays in the National Capital
Soccer League (NCSL). FC is a U15 team that will play in Division 1 for the coming fall 2008 season
after advancing from the Divisions 2, 3, 4 and 5 the preceding four seasons.

FC was formed by Arlington Travel Soccer Club (ATSC) 5 years ago.
When we hired Farzad Mahmoudpour as our coach 5 seasons ago, we were in NCSL Division 5 and trying to hold the nucleus of the team together after dropping from Division 4.
The parents at that time established the team philosophy reflected in our current mission statement ... essentially, that our goals were to provide an environment where the boys could learn soccer, have some fun, and hopefully enjoy some success along the way. We took a moderate approach to time commitments and costs ... offering a quality soccer experience for less (time and money).
We've also done our best to accommodate other commitments and interests that our players might have ... family, church, school, band, other sports.
We have boys who play football, basketball, baseball, run track and play in the band.
When boys have chosen to leave the team, we've pursued good players who are also good kids from supportive families to take their place.
This approach has proven to be successful.
The boys have improved considerably and we have very good team and family chemistry.
On the field, we advanced to Division 2 this spring where our second place finish will earn FC promotion to Division 1 for next fall.
Last fall, we reached the state quarterfinals in our first Virginia State Cup tournament. In addition, a number of our players are participating in the highly competitive Super-Y and Olympic Development Programs.
Our rise into upper division soccer will also provide us with opportunities to participate in showcase tournaments.
We've accomplished this while letting everyone play a reasonable amount in each game.
The primary reason for our success is Coach Farzad, who has very capably led us on this journey ... deferring to the parents with respect to our team philosophy and making it all work with a very skillful and perceptive manner.
He's struck the right balance -- knowing when to push and when not to.
Many of our boys might not be playing soccer, much less upper division soccer, if not for this approach.
Our players and their families enjoy being part of the team and we all look forward to continuing to learn soccer, have fun and enjoy some success along the way.
